Hi Heather! Thanks for reading my story! Yes. I’ve been in the cyber security field for a long time. There is definitely value in limiting the amount of information you post online, especially for the little ones.

At a very high level, cyber bullying starts very early, and honestly the adults are just as guilty of it as the kids. Think on the lines of un-intentional viral videos, potentially embarrassing pictures, and hurtful comments. Navigating these situations would be challenging for an emotionally mature adult, but for a child it could pose serious risks on their psyche, physical security (yes. photos can be used to locate people) and, depending on the severity, a single post could follow them throughout life and impact future opportunities.

But that’s just the surface stuff. I could go on and on about childhood identity theft and mass markers aggregating data to sell and make a profit, but I think you just gave me a great idea for a future post.
